In automotive manufacturing, the machining processes for critical components like engine blocks, cylinder heads, and crankshafts generate significant amounts of oil mist, which can lead to environmental pollution and harm workers' health. Effective oil mist collection and treatment technologies are crucial for ensuring a safe and clean production environment.

 

Sources and hazards of oil mist 
In the production process of automobiles, engines and other parts, the volatilization of mineral oil and its thermal decomposition or cracking products used in processes such as wet machining and heat treatment of metal materials are in the form of steam, droplets, etc. The presence of oil mist not only leads to a decrease in workplace air quality, but also increases the risk of fire, and long-term exposure may cause respiratory diseases and other health problems in workers.
 

Overview of Oil Mist Treatment Technology 
At present, the common oil mist treatment technology mainly includes mechanical filtration technology and electrostatic purification technology: 
 

1. mechanical filtration technology 
Mechanical filtration technology is mainly used to deal with wet processing and heat treatment process produced in the oil mist exhaust gas. This technology achieves effective separation of oil mist from exhaust gas by using materials such as wire mesh filter elements, fiber filter elements or multi-layer filter felts as filter media. When applied to the heat treatment process, it is usually necessary to cooperate with an automatic spray or wetting device to regularly clean the filter layer to ensure that the filter element continues to maintain high filtration and separation performance. 
 

Mechanical oil mist purifier

Electrostatic purification technology is suitable for the treatment of oily mist waste gas generated by wet processing. The exhaust gas is first filtered to remove large particles of oil mist, and then enters the congratulatory area to make the oil mist particles charged by a large number of positive and negative ions generated by air ionization. Then, under the action of electric field force, the charged oil mist particles are deposited on the collecting plate with opposite polarity, and finally rely on gravity to realize the separation of oil mist and air.
