MEGAUNITY participates in the drafting of the new national standard "Welding Fume Capture and Separation Equipment"

Welding is one of the basic manufacturing processes in the implementation of industrial strong base projects, and it plays an important role in the equipment manufacturing in eight major areas such as power equipment, aerospace, marine engineering, rail transportation, and new energy vehicles listed in "Made in China 2025".

During the welding process, the emission of metal oxide smoke and dust, CO, CO2, NO, NO2, O3, etc., poses a potential threat to the environment and the health and safety of welding personnel. Under the background of carbon neutrality, the welding industry is facing tremendous pressure to reduce carbon emissions, which also concerns whether welding technology can achieve sustainable development. In order to further standardize the use of welding fume collection and separation equipment and its efficiency evaluation, the National Standardization Management Committee of China recently issued a new national standard "Welding Fume Collection and Separation Equipment". The new national standard is divided into four parts: "Part 1: General requirements", "Part 2: Test and marking requirements for separation efficiency", "Part 3: Determination of smoke collection efficiency on welding guns", and "Part 4: Determination of minimum air volume of collection device". It specifies the requirements for welding fume collection and separation equipment and can promote and guide the research and application of green welding technology, thereby providing scientific basis and solutions for controlling welding carbon emissions, filling the blank of standards in China in the collection and detection of welding fumes and gases.

The national standard was formulated according to document [2022] No. 22 issued by the National Standardization Management Committee, titled "Notice of the National Standardization Management Committee on Issuing the Second Batch of Recommended National Standards Plans and Related Standards Foreign Language Versions Plans in 2022". It was initiated and drafted by Harbin Welding Institute Co., Ltd. of China Academy of Machinery Science and Technology Group, and MEGAUNITY, which has years of technical accumulation and rich project implementation experience in the field of welding fume management, is honored to be one of the main drafting units of the new national standard "Welding Fume Collection and Separation Equipment".
