Case Mega and VOCs Governance Helps Low-carbon Development of Automotive Coatings Industry

Tianjin Binhai New Area Libang Paint Co., Ltd. project is Libang Group in China's largest automotive paint production base, is a key project in Tianjin. The project covers an area of more than 190000 square meters and will build two projects of high-end industrial coatings and coating resins. After the completion of the project, the annual output of water-based industrial coatings will be 73000 tons, including 15000 tons of water-based automotive paint, 58000 tons of electrophoretic paint, 20000 tons of oily industrial coatings and 40000 tons of resin production capacity.

Exhaust gas composition and parameters
The main sources of exhaust gas for this project are water-based automotive paint workshop, high-performance automotive solvent-based color finishing paint workshop, high-performance automotive paint workshop, workshop ventilation, resin workshop, tank farm and hazardous waste room.

Main components of waste gas: toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, acetone, 2-propanol, ethyl acetate, 4-methyl-2-pentanone, etc.

Exhaust gas concentration: 150 mg/m -2000 mg/m

The total air volume of the first phase is about 240000 m/h.

The total air volume of Phase II is about 90000 m/h.

Mega and Solution

After detailed air volume calculation, combined with the owner's demand, this scheme adoptsProcess route of pretreated zeolite wheel for RTO adsorptionSeparate and collect water-based paint and oil-based paint separately.

Two sets of rotating wheels are set up, one set is used for waste gas treatment of water-based paint, warehouse, hazardous waste warehouse, tank farm, etc. Due to the relatively low concentration of this part of waste gas, a higher concentration ratio is considered in combination with the operation conditions. The other set is used for treatment of oily paint waste gas with higher concentration. The waste gas desorbed from the two sets of zeolite rotating wheels enters RTO for treatment together with the waste gas from sewage station to meet the discharge standards.

    The waste gas of water-based paint and oil-based paint first enters the filtering device, and the paint mist and macromolecular high boiling point substances are removed through four-stage filtration to ensure the purification effect of the zeolite runner and prolong the service life of the zeolite runner. The waste gas after pretreatment then enters the two zeolite runner systems respectively.
  • zeolite runner system
    The collected VOCs exhaust gas enters the zeolite runner concentration system after passing through the pretreatment equipment. After the exhaust gas passes through the zeolite adsorption zone, the clean gas is discharged through the exhaust cylinder, and the high concentration exhaust gas from the runner desorption zone enters the RTO system for treatment.
  • RTO system
    The project adopts a three-tower RTO waste gas incineration system, and the heat absorbed by the heat accumulator is used to heat the organic waste gas in the next cycle. The heat storage efficiency of RTO is ≥ 95%, which can reduce the external energy supply and reduce the operating cost of the system. At the same time, the purification efficiency of RTO is ≥ 99%, which can ensure the stable emission results and meet the emission standards.
